The term Master Plants is a term that refers to plants with especially strong curative and spiritual powers. These plants include the great teacher plants such as Ayahuasca, Chacruna, Toe, San Pedro (Huachuma) and Peyote along with many others found exclusively in the Amazon region. Listed below are some of the Master Plants we commonly work with at El Jardin de la Paz along with information about some of their effects.
It should be noted that each of these plants has a spirit, or personality that is difficult to put into words and these listed qualities only address a surface level of each plants powers.
Ayahuasca: The ayahuasca brew we drink in ceremonies is a combination of the ayahuasca vine and another plant, chacruna. It is the combination of these two sacred plants that allows the body to absorb the range of active chemicals necessary to produce some of the effects experienced in an ayahuasca ceremony. Ayahuasca is an incredible plant spirit that heals, cleanses and teaches in ways that must be experienced to be fully understood.
Tabbacco (Mapacho): Natural tabacco is sacred to many cultures around the world and is used in spiritual ritual as well as for physical relief. Mapacho is one of an ayahuasca Curandero’s closest allies and is integral to his practice. Drunken as a tea it is a powerful purgative and can also be dieted. Tabacco cleanses, purifies, and is a communicator between man and spirit.
Bovinzana: A medium sized tree with beautiful pink flowers this powerful yet gentle plant used to cleanse the blood, improve soft tissue flexibility, cleanse the feminine reproductive system and to open and heal the heart.
Mucura: A spicy white root that energizes the body and spirit, fortifying, de-stressing, detoxing and protecting on many levels.
Renaco: A large tree that supports the bones, ligaments, cleaning and strengthening the respiratory system.
Ajo Sacha: This name translates to “mountain garlic” for the pungent smell of its leaves. A potent detoxifier that deep cleanses the entire system, also used for protection and to enhance circulation.
Chuchuwasi: A large hardwood tree famous in Amazonia for improving overall strength, vitality, concentration, virility in men and for providing spiritual and physical protection.
Albaca: This smooth variety of wild basil brings mental clarity, improves concentration, soothes and fortifies the nervous system and is wonderful for treating headaches and migraines.
Pinon: A medium sized plant with colored variations to clean the lungs, can be used as a purgative, and to heal lesions, womens issues or abrasions.
Abuta: This plant has been used with excellent effect to treat type 1 diabetes.
Chiric Sanango: Relieves arthritis and is anti-inflammitory supporting the joints and ligaments. Chiric Sanago is also a remedy used particularly for Parkinsons disease, it produces strong feelings of hot and cold through the body.
